The most inspiring part of the World Cup were the stories and views of Africa coming through my tv set. Some friends of mine returned from the games in South Africa with tales of Brai (BBQ) and Castle. 2011 I will step foot in the motherland. Here’s some of my favorite African beats from all tempos. Enjoy!
We’re having a sidewalk sale this Thursday & Friday 7/22 & 7/23 1pm -5pm. We may let it roll on into next week based on how much stuff we have. We’ll have a bunch of Obey samples (men’s size M, waist 32″, women’s size S) as well as markdowns and special purchases. We’re in the Alameda Marina 1805-C Clement Ave, Alameda CA 94501. Come on down!
I had the rare treat of a sit down audio interview with him for my podcast, Uncommon Radio in early 2007. We talked about the beginnings of hip-hop, the evolution of his career and played a bunch of his music including some stuff that was not released at the time. He also dropped a super abstract freestyle at the end of the show.
I’m proud to have gotten the chance to talk with him and with him gone now, I thought this would be a good way for younger generations to now find out more about him.
Details are sketchy, but it is being reported that Rammellzee has passed away. A serious innovator, you can see some of his more recent work and philosophy on his site, Gothic Futurism. Condolences to his friends and family.
