The Stepkids – Wanderers

new music Comments Off on The Stepkids – Wanderers

Free 3 Songs from The Stepkids.  The songs on The Stepkids latest release, Wanderers, were originally written for their latest album Troubadour, but ended up being completed free from any limitations of what might work in any setting. The band explains:

“The songs in this collection are different than anything else we’ve done. We wrote and recorded them at the height of our experimentation. We spared no artistry and weren’t limited to any business strategy, a target audience, single considerations, or limitations to the style that we established with our first album. In other words, for better or worse, you will never again hear anything like this from us, let alone anyone else. Enjoy.” – The Stepkids (Jeff, Dan, Tim)

Download | THE STEPKIDS – WANDERERS (zip with 320 kbps MP3 files)

This collection contains three songs, with six variations on the cover art. A 6-track version with instrumentals is also available.

THE STEPKIDS, LIVE DATES, SUMMER 2014

Jun 27: Glastonbury Music Festival, Glastonbury UK
Aug 22: Los Globos, Los Angeles CA
Aug 23: First City Music Festival, Monterey CA

Madlib – Rock Konducta

new music Comments Off on Madlib – Rock Konducta

Madlib’s Rock Konducta is coming out July 15.  It is the fifth installment in Madlib’s Beat Konducta series following Beat Konducta: Movie Scenes (2006), Beat Konducta in India (2007), A Tribute to J Dilla (2009) and Beat Konducta in Africa (2010).

Rock Konducta grabs its source material from various worldwide rock scenes from the 60s through the 80s, from American psychedelia to Germany’s Krautrock to acid-soaked Spanish prog to synthy, early-80s oddities.

Madlib announced his Rock Konducta album with a limited edition 45 made specifically for sale at the Zamrock Live! Madlib Medicine Show in San Francisco in early 2013. It was a fitting place to make the debut, as his previous Beat Konducta in Africa album was heavily inspired by Africa’s vibrant 70s rock scene, with a specific focus on Zambia’s Zamrock.

On vinyl, the album has been released in two parts – Rock Konducta Pt. 1, available here, and Rock Konducta Pt. 2 coming July 8.
