Gotta wish the dads out there a Happy Father’s Day, esp, Jason (GP & UP fam). He has been schooling his son, Siah, on the hip hop classics. I’m not sure I could say “Afrika Bambaataa” when I was 4, let alone identify something like “Looking for the Perfect Beat”!

Finally got a chance to catch up with Madukes this morning…she is busy as usual. She’s concentrating on a new project called,The Rebirth of Detroit, and very excited about the next round of scholarships for the J Dilla Foundation beginning July 1st. She also mentioned that she’s going to have to pry Dilla’s MPC away from Illa J because it will hopefully be in the new African American Smithsonian set to open in the next year or so (this may be old news, but I was like, “WHAT?!”)
Fish just added a few more animations from my upcoming “listen and learn” show. He says, “Today’s storytellers are: SNOOP, BRYAN COONS, MIKE GIANT, AND AESOP ROCK. big hugs and thanks to KAMP GRIZZLY for making these.”

An official release date – Sept. 23, 2011 – has been set for the Kashmere Stage Band documentary Thunder Soul, presented by Jamie Foxx. Now-Again Records has had an important role in Kashmere Stage Band’s musical legacy, beginning with Stones Throw’s The Funky 16 Corners, compiling and releasing their anthology Texas Thunder Soul, on up through the promotion of the forthcoming documentary.
