The Sounds of VTech / Tezeta De Ethiopia: A Special Mulatu Slideshow
Mulatu Astatke Slide Show
It is sometimes easy to forget that Timeless is the brainchild of two photographers and a promoter. But for those lucky enough to see the shows live there was always photographs there to remind you. For Verocai we had an amazing slide show of a recent trip to the North East of Brasil, Suite for Ma Dukes was presented complete with a tough look at Dilla’s Detroit and of course Mulatu’s show was resplendent with a slide show of Ethiopian photographs.
In 2004, Miles Cleret of Soundway Records, Will “Quantic” Holland and B+ spent three weeks in Ethiopia. The plan was to meet Mulatu and dig for records. B+ shot some 120 rolls of film and the best of that is represented here. The music is an exclusive track from the concert that didn’t make the film. “Ene Alantchi Alnorem” is a languid beautiful song of longing.
This slideshow along with lots of other treats are contained on the DVD.
Featuring many of our peep! There are a couple other dates besides the LA show.
“One Way or Another will feature some of the most talented folks in the skateboarding industry. Each artist involved is donating their valuable time, skill and resources to inspire the next generation of creators.”
– co-curator Isaac McKay-Randozzi.
During the tour they will be camping out, skating local spots and cavorting with each community on the most grass roots level.

We started this crazy journey in ’99, but we took The Giant Peach site live on May 25, 2000. People still bought CDs (dang, they still even made cassettes). The site started with music & merchandise from ABB. Dilated Peoples, Hip Hop Slam, Ledisi, Quannum (and soon after Live Human, Stones Throw & Def Jux). Many thanks to Stinke & Meca, Colm, and everyone who has contributed to the site over the years.
Celebrate our 10 year anniversary with an extra 10% off all day today (the 25th). Enter the code 10YEAR at checkout (it will take it off the item price). Thanks for the support!
Talib Kweli + Hi-Tek are releasing their sophomore outing, Revolutions Per Minute. Exclusively produced by Hi-Tek, features on the album include appearances by Estelle, Bilal, Bun B, Mos Def, Jay Electronica, J. Cole, Res and Chester French. The album covers an array of topics that discuss the shortcomings of America (“Strangers”), society’s obsession with fame (“Got Work”), an honest discussion of drug use (“Lift’in Off”), the pining for a lover returning home (“Midnight Hour”), a music history lesson (“In the Red”), and even a track about Nigeria’s corruption-riddled oil business (“Black Gold”).

We were recently going through the stash closet of one of our LA stylist friends and realized we should share the bounty. We pulled out some nicer women’s contemporary designers in a variety of sizes, and we’ve knocked the prices down to 50 – 70% OFF retail. This first batch is all new with tags. You can check out the selection here.
If there’s enough interest, we’ll continue to feature stylish friends of ours with overflowing closets and maybe some fashion blogger buddies. We’ve already asked a few of our sneaker fiends to weed through their collections, we’ll see what hidden gems they might find.
Our friend (Lucy from The Fashion Spot) just emailed us some pics she took of Banksy’s work she spotted this morning around Boston.
