The Living Word Festival – Since 2001, The Living Word Festival has hosted an annual gathering of future thinking, urban-centered performers, educators and environmentalists. There are four great events in this year’s festival:

October 8 & 9 – Universes: Live from the Edge and an excerpt from Chinaka Hodge’s Mirrors in Every Corner. An incredible night of theater. Hip Hop does not dominate the body of content, and yet, hip hop is in the body of the players on stage. 8 PM :: Counterpulse :: 1310 Mission Street.

October 10 – LIFE is LIVING, a celebration of urban life and creativity. Featuring Pharoahe Monch, Kev Choice, and the Linda Tillery Heritage Choir. With the 3rd annual Estria
Graffiti Invitational, The Mighty 4 B-Boy Battle, a youth town hall on health care and much much more. Check lifeisliving.org for more information. 11 AM – 5 PM :: DeFremery Park in Oakland :: FREE.
