NASA Releases a Response to NYPD Killing of Eric Garner
Uncommon Nasa has respectfully released this song today regarding the senseless killing of an innocent man by the NYPD just footsteps from his home in Staten Island, NY. Video from the attack can be seen only at the New York Daily News‘ website currently – fair warning, it is graphic.
The song is called We Living In These Dark Times and it was produced by Black-Tokyo and written and recorded by Uncommon Nasa. He says:
“I made this song because I don’t know what else to do. I live in this community and I love this community, but I’m not the kind of person that is best to go out and protest in the streets, although I still might. I’m an artist and a song writer and what I think serves best as my form of protest over what happened is creating something. So I made this song today because I’m sick to my stomach and disgusted by the actions of the NYPD on one of my neighbors. I did not know Mr. Garner personally, but this is a small community and I’m sure I walked right passed him at one point or another. The fact that someone could be killed over allegedly selling loosies, after breaking up a fight between teenagers is flooring. This isn’t the first time an injustice has been carried out by police against an African American and it won’t be the last, but I hope that this song can respectfully bring attention to this in order to get some justice and hopefully bring some peace to the family. All wishes and prayers are with the Garner family, RIP to Eric Garner aka Big E”. – Uncommon Nasa
