We’re going to be celebrating Record Store Day, this Sat, April 16th, with some of our oldest friends. We thought it might be more fun to interact with us in physical form, so we will be having a Giant Peach + Obey sample sale all day at:
TRUE East
925.280.2882
1335 S. Main Street
Walnut Creek, CA 94956
Music giveaways with purchase all day sponsored by Def Jux. We were planning for a long time to have a few of our rapping friends stop by to sign autographs, but we’re not 100% that they’re going to make it out here (we’ll post again if we get absolute confirmation).
Online we will be offering additional giveways from the Def Jux catalog (if you buy clothing, most likely you will get a CD, if you buy vinyl, we’ll try to hook you up with vinyl). We are also scheduled to receive some of the very limited Flying Lotus Cosmogramma Alt Takes LPs as well as restocks from his catalog (this shipment may be delayed…not sure that we’re going to receive it by Sat).
So come on out or join us online…keep vinyl alive!
RJ auctioned some exclusive tracks on ebay to benefit Doctors without Borders:
“I decided to do a one-time-only auction of some tracks I’ve been sitting on with all proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders. This donation, while instigated by the situation in Japan, will be “untethered”, in that DWB does not earmark donations for specific regional causes; in short, they put resources towards where needs are highest. ”
The winning bidder will receive exclusive rights to the track, including the original ProTools session files. You can check the auctions here (sorry, we snoozed, they ended this weekend) but also listen to snippets here.
New (really cute) vid from Atmosphere off the new album, The Family Sign. Sorry, we haven’t been hating on @Rhymesayers, they’re just such monster online moguls, we figured they had it handled!
Freshjive Moving Pictures – Bicycle Seat from freshjive on Vimeo.
Rick (the owner of Freshjive) says, “I’ve had this 45 single of a Caribbean style song called ‘Bicycle Seat’ since I was 14. It’s a track by an old punk band called Splodgenessabounds, headed by Max Splodge, that wrote some pretty fun novelty type tracks and were known for playing pranks. The song inspired our recent t shirt design called Life Is So Sweet, thus further inspiring our first Moving Pictures video.”
He says, “Whewwww,…..this is the Jam! G’lord…my new ipod loading slows to listen to this in full!”
Playing phone/email tag with Apollo who promises to restock the site once he returns from the Philippines in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, hop over to Mixcrate to hear one of his classic mid-90’s mixes.
Sorry, it has taken us a minute to get ourselves together…we had actually been seeking out Cram Cream items, and it turns out that our order was shipping to us the midst of all of the madness surrounding the Japan earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster. We decided to gather together a bunch of cute items from companies in Japan, and all the proceeds from them will be donated to Second Harvest Japan. Aside from providing regular food bank services, they are also heavily involved getting food and supplies to disaster victims. If you would like to make a monetary donation directly, it can be done through aidmatrix.org. Thank you for your support. Stay tuned for additional Japan benefit items coming from Obey, Akomplice, Goodwood & Chaser.

Sorry to post these all at once (and this one with out a graphic). Trying to get this out before the weekend…

All proceeds go to Second Harvest Japan, the country’s first food bank. In the wake of the quake and tsunami, Second Harvest Japan has been driving two-ton truckloads of food, water and vital necessities into northern Japan every day. They are our heroes, and from the streets of San Francisco, let’s give them THE GIFT OF FOOD.
Come support! See you on the 5th!
Love,
Kayoko + Yoko
